Revelation Through Trees uses trees as a subject, not only as a way for me to express my own feelings about the loss of my father, but also as a metaphor for the way people in general deal with their sadness and loneliness after the death of a loved one.
In the images, as with my own experience, sometimes the trees are clear and sharp and sometimes they’re soft and out of focus. The trees are presented against a blank background meant to evoke a sort of psychic sky. That blankness isolates the trees; their sharp areas represent physical reality, while their soft areas represent a spiritual state.
Making something creative out of my emotional pain has helped me heal.
